Future skills grant applications for Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 are closed.
The StrongerBC Future Skills Grant (FSG) makes it easier for British Columbians to gain new skills and move into good jobs. This government grant gives up to $3,500 to help cover the costs of eligible short-term courses and programs at public post-secondary schools, including VCC.
You don’t need to show financial need to qualify. If you’re 19 or older and living in B.C., this grant can help you learn new skills and take the next step in your career.
How to apply
Follow these steps to apply for FSG funding:
Make sure you meet the requirements listed below.
Pick from the eligible courses and programs at VCC or another post-secondary institution.
- Create an account or log in
- Select VCC as your school
- Under Category, choose Future Skills Grant Applicant
- Under Level of Study, choose Future Skills Grant Programs or Future Skills Grant Courses
- Select your program or courses
- Answer the eligibility questions
- Review and submit your application
If you can’t apply online, email the right office:

- School of Instructor Education: sie@vcc.ca
- All other programs: admissions@vcc.ca
VCC will contact you by email about your application, registration, and schedule. Check your inbox and junk folder often.
Who can apply
You may be eligible if all of these apply:
- You are a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person allowed to study in Canada
- You live in B.C.
- You are 19 or older, or you’ve finished high school before your course or program starts
- You agree that VCC can share your registration information with the Province of B.C.
- You are not already receiving other funding that pays for the same costs
Eligible courses and programs
What the grant covers
- Up to $3,500 total (lifetime maximum)
- Tuition
- Mandatory fees
- Program or course materials (such as textbooks, required software, or tools)
- Childcare
- Living expenses
- Transportation
- The grant may affect your income taxes
- If you receive Employment Insurance (EI) or B.C. Employment and Assistance (BCEA), you must get approval before using the grant
- Funding amounts may be reviewed or audited
