Building on previously learned knowledge and skills this course continues to focus on the practical skills required to successfully assist the Physical Therapist and their clients. The course emphasizes physiotherapy treatments and interventions to promote of functional mobility, balance and strength for clients with cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, circulatory disorders and clients with amputations.

  • 1. Vital sign assessment of cardio-respiratory clients
    2. Management of cardiac and respiratory distress
    3. Breathing exercises and coughing
    4. Oxygen therapy
    5. Secretion removal techniques
    6. Positioning and mobilizing clients post abdominal or thoracic surgery with lines and tubes
    7. Rehabilitation post heart or lung surgery and post myocardial infarction
    8. Pulmonary rehabilitation
    9. Tracheostomy management and ventilators
    10. Management of circulatory disorders
    11. Rehabilitation post amputations
    12. Paediatric respiratory care
    13. Professional behavior
