Building on previously learned knowledge and skills, this course focuses on the practical skills required to successfully assist the Physical Therapist and their clients. The course emphasizes physiotherapy treatments to promote functional mobility, balance and strength for clients with neurological conditions and injuries.

What you will learn
- 1. Introduction to neurological rehabilitation and various treatment approaches
- 2. Muscle tone management
- 3. Functional mobility in the neurological client including bed mobility, standing, manual transfers, wheelchair use, and ambulation activities
- 4. Strength, balance and coordination in the neurological client
- 5. Altered sensation in the neurological client
- 6. Altered cognition and the PTA in neurological rehabilitation
- 7. Physiotherapy treatment techniques for neurological clients
- 8. Complications post neurological injury
- 9. Functional outcomes post spinal cord injury
- 10. Management of progressive neurological disorders
- 11. Professional behaviour
