CWRI 1184 Advanced Fiction Workshop is tailored to writers who have either completed CWRI 1174 Intro to Creative Writing, studied fiction before, or have written extensively in the form and wish to nurture their craft.
In a fun, supportive, and structured environment, you will share and discuss your fiction with other writers, and improve your drafts through feedback, discussion, and mini lessons. You will also learn to read the work of your peers and provide feedback that is nuanced, constructive and practical. Collectively, we will identify common mistakes and weaknesses in story structure, character development, dialogue, and other fiction fundamentals.
During the six-week workshop, you will get to submit one to two short stories or novel chapters. Students are welcome and encouraged to enroll in consecutive iterations of this course, making the workshop their ongoing fiction incubator.
