Our focus recently has been to reduce food insecurity among students and their families. Food insecurity impacts almost half of post-secondary students in Canada, impacting their health and academic success. At VCC, many students face rising costs, unexpected expenses, and financial pressures. This Giving Tuesday, support VCC Foundation’s efforts to expand food programs and provide vital resources. Every contribution counts.
Be the reason students thrive
Food security is a growing concern in the region, with an increasing number of people turning to food banks for support. Students are often among those who struggle to stay nourished.
The need is real
A recent survey of VCC students showed that:
- 40 per cent of students regularly face food insecurity
- 36 per cent support their families financially
- 18 per cent have relied on a food bank in the last six months
Supporting VCC students goes a long way in helping them stay focused on their studies without them worrying about their next meal.
