Putting mental health at the heart of education
We know that care looks different for everyone, and that culture, identity, and lived experience influence wellness. VCC’s culture strategically integrates mental health and well-being. That’s why our Mental Health and Well-being Framework and VCC’s Strategic Innovation Plan take a holistic approach.
We support all parts of your life, including emotional, physical, spiritual, cultural, and financial. Whether it’s access to food, a safe space to talk, or support in a tough moment, we’re building systems of care that reflect the people who make up our community. Because when care is part of the learning environment, everyone has more room to grow.
Supporting our community’s wellness
Mental health affects all of us. In Canada, 1 in 5 people experiences mental health challenges each year. Things like racism, poverty, and discrimination negatively impact mental health and make it more challenging to access support. At VCC, we do our best to meet people where they are. That means care that’s practical, inclusive, and culturally safe.
We know that everyday pressures, such as school stress, work, or financial worries, can add up. And when something bigger happens in the world or close to home, it can be a lot to carry. Whatever you’re feeling, you’re not alone.

Tools to guide student learning
Some students face challenges that aren’t always easy to see. Trouble focusing, reading, or managing time can affect how you learn and show up in class.
VCC offers support that fits your needs, including assessments that help uncover your learning strengths and barriers. With that insight, we can provide accommodations like extra exam time or other tools to help you succeed.
