Filming FAQ for students
VCC is proud to be a popular location serving Vancouver’s film and television industry. While every effort is made to schedule filming activity outside of academic hours, students may occasionally encounter film crews, actors, and production equipment on campus.
VCC would like to thank the college community for their understanding and patience as we share our spaces and support this thriving local industry.
Notices are posted in spaces that will be used or closed for filming, usually three to five business days in advance. At the Broadway campus, look for posters by the elevator banks in Building B. Notices are also shared on VCC’s official social media channels.
Filming supports VCC by generating revenue that helps keep tuition affordable. Our unique spaces are in high demand, and the college is compensated for their use.
Film productions often sponsor improvements such as refinishing floors, pressure washing, window cleaning, or other upgrades, leaving our campuses refreshed at no cost to the college.
VCC Facilities Management reserves about 200 parking spaces at the Broadway campus for students and employees. This usually meets the needs of most vehicles during filming days.
Give film crews space to work and be mindful of equipment. Keep voices low, wait before crossing active sets, and watch for cables or gear that may cause tripping.
If a study area is closed for filming, notices will provide information on alternatives such as the library, learning centre, or cafeteria.
VCC has been featured in shows such as Arrow, Colony, My Favourite Wedding, The Hypnotist’s Love Story, The InBetween, and Travelers. Our campuses have also appeared in advertising for brands like BCAA, Nintendo, Hallmark, Hewlett Packard, Toyota, and more.
