VCC is more than a place of higher learning
We are a publicly funded, post-secondary institution with a legacy of learning that is rooted in community.
We are the training ground for dozens of in-demand, hands-on careers. We are a proud partner to the people, businesses, and organizations that keep our region thriving.
Our programs are built to meet real-world needs, offering students immersive and practical experience and many programs are designed to provide real services that are open to the public.
We’re proud of the work we do, the students we support, and the difference we make in our community.
Our history
VCC is located on the traditional, unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilw̓ ətaʔɬ (Tsleil Waututh) peoples.
It is British Columbia’s oldest public post-secondary institution, with educational ties dating back to 1880.
Since we have a history this long and roots this deep, we must recognize the connection between education and colonization in Canada. Learn what Indigenization means for VCC.
This is a critical first step to decolonizing how we approach learning today and into the future.
VCC today
VCC has long been a leader in innovative post-secondary education in British Columbia, with a proud legacy of hands-on learning and community connection. Now, we’re building on that foundation with a renewed focus on innovation, growth, and long-term impact.
We also understand that accessibility is foundational to our goal to become a school that welcomes learners of all abilities. Real change that transforms our communities for the better is only possible if our programs, courses, culture, and campuses are sustainable, accessible, and inclusive.
Our values
Our plans and commitments aren’t just documents—they are how our values come to life.
Student success
We create an accessible environment where students build the skills, develop the attributes and gain the experience in the classroom, industry and community needed for success now and in the future.
Excellence
We are committed to the highest educational quality, student support, and college operations that are responsive, innovative and relevant.
Reconciliation and diversity
We respect and celebrate our differences, and are committed to the work of decolonization, accessibility and inclusivity for all.
