Intro
VCC uses multiple communication methods to keep students, employees, and visitors safe during emergencies. From public announcements to mass texts and evacuation maps, our emergency notification system is designed to share timely, accurate information when you need it most.
Alerts and PA announcements
During emergencies, inclement weather, real-time updates are broadcast through VCC’s public address (PA) system across all campuses. Messages include:
- Evacuation instructions
- Shelter-in-place directions
- All-clear signals
You may also see an alert banner at the top of VCC website for digital alerts.
Evacuation locations
If it is safe to do so, leave the building using the nearest exit and proceed to your campus’s designated evacuation site.
Broadway campus
Evacuation location: The gathering spot is in the large outdoor plaza adjacent to Glen Drive and E. 7th Avenue. Follow exit signs and posted maps throughout the building.
Downtown campus
Evacuation location: Assemble in Victory Square Park across from the main campus entrance on Pender Street. Use the exits nearest your classroom or lab.
Notifications
In addition to PA announcements and alerts, VCC sends important notifications to stdents and employees via text and email.
Regroup notifications
Regroup is our mass notification system that sends emergency messages via text.
Email notifications
Emails are sent to students and employees to provide additional details after an emergency alert, including follow-ups and next steps.

Alerts are sent when there is an immediate or significant risk to health, safety, or college operations.
Yes. Closures due to snow or extreme weather will be posted online and sent via Regroup.
