VCC is committed to protecting your personal information and ensuring transparency in how it is collected, used, and shared. We follow clear processes and laws to keep your data secure.
Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) governs how VCC collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information.
Information that identifies you, such as your name, student number, or contact details.
We use it to support your education, provide services, and ensure safety.
VCC applies secure storage, restricted access, and strong policies to protect your data.
Records are retained only as long as needed under legal and operational requirements.
Freedom of Information (FOI)
As part of our commitment to transparency, you can request access to VCC-held records through a Freedom of Information request. This applies to both your personal records and general college information.
To submit a request, please email privacyandfoi@vcc.ca, the Privacy Office, with a clear description of the records you’re seeking.
Privacy Impact Statements (PIAs)
VCC conducts Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) to evaluate the privacy risks of new programs, tools, and technologies. PIAs ensure we meet FIPPA requirements and maintain accountability.
