Not ready to start your program just yet? You may be able to defer your admission to a future term and return without reapplying.
What it means to defer
You can request to move your program start date to a future intake (within one year).
If approved, you won’t need to reapply or resubmit transcripts.
Note: You may need to update time-sensitive requirements like assessments or certifications.
When you can defer
You may request to defer if all the following apply:
- You were accepted or waitlisted
- You’ve paid your commitment fee
- You’re applying to defer within one year of your original intake
- You’re in a base program (not Continuing Studies or Apprenticeship)
- You’re in select health programs with documented medical need (e.g. Dental Hygiene, BScN)
Things to keep in mind
- A deferral request does not guarantee a seat in your desired intake
- You may only request to defer one time
- The commitment fee is non‑refundable for any intake
- Your request will be reviewed, and approval is subject to seat availability
Deadlines and instructions
