This foundational course introduces the student to medical transciption and document editing, Style guidelines, medical transcription rules, grammar and punctuation are emphasized in this course. Students learn how to access medical resources when transcribing dictation.

  • Operation of transcription equipment
  • Phonetic analysis of speech
  • Interpretation and transcription of dictation in various dialects
  • Pharmacological names, abbreviations and dosages
  • Grammar and punctuation
  • Proofreading and editing transcribed reports, while maintaining the intended meaning and dictator's style
