This course builds on the work established in Introduction to Improvisation. Students explore elements of Dance Composition through the perspectives of Contact Improvisation, Physical Initiation, Spatial Intent/Relationships, Time, Phrasing and Thematic Exploration. Students are expected to create a solo, duet or trio, and an ensemble pieces. Journaling is heavily emphasized as an important element of the compositional process, with an introduction to the use of props, set pieces, voice and text in dance. Prerequisite : Dance Composition 1
This course is part of the full-time Dance Program.
