This 12-hour course will deal with a range of English language proficiency exams that are required most frequently by English-medium universities to screen ESL/EFL applicants in order to have evidence of sufficient mastery of the language. In particular, it will focus on IELTS, a commonly used proficiency exam that international students take. Participants will learn about the structure and requirement of each of the four sections of these exams:speaking, listening, reading and writing. They will practise a selection of actual test sections to better understand the demands made on students taking IELTS. Participants will also learn about a variety of communicative activities that reinforce the language skills required for students to succeed on the exam and make the eligible university applicants.
